Indore Sez Posts 17% Rise In Exports

The Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Indore has recorded exports worth Rs 1,927 crore in the just concluded fiscal year, up about 17 per cent from Rs 1,637 crore clocked in 2011-12.

It has been a remarkable year (FY13) for Indore SEZ on account of physical and financial parameters, the zone’s Development Commissioner, A K Rathore, said here today.

Exports from the trade enclave rose to Rs 1,927 crore in the last financial year from Rs 1,637 crore a year ago, recording a growth of more than 17 per cent, he said.

Total turnover of the zone reached Rs 2,925 crore from Rs 2,603 in 2011-12, posting a growth of 12.3 per cent in spite of economic recession worldwide, Rathore said.

Indore SEZ is spread over an area of 1,113 hectares. So far, 513 hectares has been notified as processing area in the zone for upcoming entrepreneurs.

Industries are permitted to carry out manufacturing and service activities in the processing area of the zone.

Non-processing area can be used for infrastructure development for providing support services such as residential and commercial buildings including hotels, multiplex, and facilities like as schools, colleges and hospitals.
